Fantasy Football

Fantasy Football seems to be something that only guys can do. Every guy seems to feel like girls do not even know the meaning of football, let alone fantasy football. Well, that’s a piece of crap. I was in a league with 14 other guys, and they thought I didn’t know anything. O yeah, and I won the league.

Guys expect girls to not know the difference between a quarterback and a cornerback, a defensive lineman and defensive back, a tight end and a wide receiver, an offensive lineman and a defensive lineman, OR right or left guard and right or left tackle (just a few examples). I guess I’m one of the few girls who do. Just because football’s a guy’s game, doesn’t mean girls can’t watch it or love it. I absolutely love football, and I think fantasy is really fun to be a part of. My favorite part is the draft. It’s so much fun preparing and looking at all the different sites or magazines. Learning who all the rookies are, and who the sleepers are, is exciting as well.

So the thing about fantasy football is that you could pick people from your favorite team, if you can get them before someone else does, or you can pick the tops of each section. For those who don’t know what “tops of each section” are, sections are positions that you can pick players from. Tops of the sections are the players that are ranked the highest in their position. You can also pick sleepers, which are players who are usually new in the league because they just graduated from college, and no one knows how they will do.

My team consists of two quarterbacks, three receivers, four running backs, two kickers, three tight ends, and two defenses. I guess I can say I have a solid team, but sometimes the projected points don’t reflect what actually happens in a game. For example, a receiver might be projected to get 7 points for a game, but he actually gets 14 or 21 because the touchdowns he scored. Defense can also get points by getting safeties and defensive touchdowns. I think I have a pretty good team this year. Even though I don’t have players on my favorite team, the Redskins, I have a lot of good players.

So, if you can’t tell already, I really love football and fantasy football too. It is hard to keep up with but I love figuring all of that out. Football takes up my entire Sunday, even if it is not my team I watch all the games.
